Careers, research and employment:

There are a number of career paths within the animation sector. Animators have always been at the cutting edge of new developments in games, film, television, publishing, art and multimedia. Computer animation can be used to entertain, sell, communicate and inform. It is used in a wide range of media and is delivered on an ever-increasing range of platforms. Animation can also be used as a skill within related occupations such as television, art, graphic design, special effects, interactive media, games, and advertising.

But will I get a job? The courses were designed after consultation with employers. Employers told us about the skill shortages in the animation sector. The industry has a high demand for knowledge of new media and new technology and this demand is not met by current personnel or by the vast majority of new entrants to the industry. There are many unemployed creative animators who lack technical skills. There are even more technically skilled animators who lack creativity and imagination and are also unemployed. Our graduates will be both creative and technically skilled and so will be ideally suited to fill the skills shortage.
